Some Major Things That You Must Care While Fencing A Swimming Pool

Drowning is the 3rd major cause of unintentional injury deaths globally. Did you know that around 390 kids drown in the pools each year in the United States of America? The reasons can be many but one of them is the poor swimming fencing built around the pool which does not meet national and local pool codes. It is the major reason that makes the pool totally unsafe for the children and may result in injury and sometimes death of a child.

Tips to consider for the safe and secure pool-
It's very important to construct a safe pool and install the pool fencing in a secure way. Below are some of the tips that you must consider for the safe and secure pool.
  • The height of pool fence- Before installing fencing ensure the height of the pool fence. National codes for the pool have been described by the Building Officials and Code Administrators. The height of the pool should be less than 4 feet.
  • Ensure the gap between fencing slats- Ensure the gaps between the fencing slats that should not be more than 4 inches wide. This is also important national code which is established to secure the young children.
  • Pool gate locks- This is one of the most important things that you must consider while installing fence slats. Proper locks will lock the gates on their own when they are closed. This will prevent the young children from accessing in the pool.
  • The position of the pool gate- This specification is neglected by the owners and fencing manufacturers. Gates of the pool should be positioned at the shallow end of the pool and it should open outwards only.
